The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization. Professional responders can rely on trained CERT members for help during and after disasters, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
CERT students learn how to organize their teams, assess disaster situations, suppress small fires, assist with search/rescue operations and crowd control, triage and conduct pre-hospital medical treatment of mass casualty victims. Our CERT volunteers enhance local capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, improving our community resiliency!
