The Nassau County Road & Bridge Department has completed the Drainage Improvements within the Swallowfork Subdivision. The Department has also placed a stabilized material on several of the roadways (Kingbird Drive, Swallowfork Avenue, Mayhaw Lane, Caulkins Drive, and Quail Ridge) within the subdivision. On June 21st, the Board of County Commissioners approved a project to Chip Seal the following roads within the subdivision (Kingbird Drive from US 301 to Swallowfork Avenue, Swallowfork Avenue and Mayhaw Lane). A Chip Seal is a surface treatment for Roads which consist of aggregate (rocks) and binder material (asphaltic cement) which enhances the driving surface. The contractor has a tentative schedule to prime (seal the base material) the week of August 2nd. After priming, there will be builders sand placed over the primed area. The contractor will then plan to come in the following week (August 7th) to install the chip seal. There will be traffic delays for approximately 3 days. After completion, there will be some loose rocks which will eventually be swept away. For more detailed information, please call Nassau County Road & Bridge Department at (904) 530-6175.
